I confess: I am an avid obituary reader. Every so often I’ll come across one that touches my heart, makes me laugh, or leaves me longing to have known the person. Many obituaries contain only basic information — dates of birth/death, details about the pending funeral services, and a list of their survivors. But more and more I come across obituaries that someone took a great deal of time (and probably emotion) to write in order to honor their dead and perhaps to help the living.

I began this blog in the summer of 2007 as a collection point. Comments posted here are few, which fellow bloggers know can be a bit discouraging, but I received an email from the author of one of the obituaries I posted that gave me renewed resolve to keep at it.
