Kimberly Brown October 5, 1968 – May 30, 2007

A memorial service for Kimberly Ann Brown, 38, of Bedias is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Bedias Baptist Church on Main Street.

Her father-in-law, the Rev. Jerald Brown with Bedias Baptist Church, will officiate. Another service is planned later this month in Gladewater.

Kimberly died Wednesday after suffering for years from anorexia.

Family members described her as compassionate toward everyone, caring and unselfish. Even during her illness, Kimberly put others first. She didn’t realize others noticed, but Kimberly’s many acts of kindness offered to strangers, acquaintances and those who love her will not be forgotten.

She found comfort and strength in her church and in worshipping God. She was an amazing cook who found true joy in making meals for family and friends.

Kimberly was born in Denton, Texas and graduated from Gladewater High School. She attended Kilgore Junior College where she was a Kilgore Rangerette. She also attended Blinn College and Texas A&M University.

Over the years, she worked at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan and Madisonville, the Brazos County District Clerk’s Office and Hardy Oil in Madisonville.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Brown of Bedias; her constant companion and pride and joy, Elroy, a Jack Russell terrier; her parents, Patricia and Grady Applegate of Gladewater; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Donnie Van Houten; nephew, Brian Van Houten; a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Tracey Applegate; nephew, Wiatt Applegate of Fort Worth; father- and mother-in-law, Jerald and Cindia Brown of Bedias; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Lisa Brown of Bedias; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Natalie and Russell Barnett of Conroe; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a special friend, “Papa” Joe Williamson.
